Transcript for Patrick Woods Video

Sustainability must be a holistic and permanent objective. So UTS is taking a whole-of-university approach to respond to environmental concerns now confronting our country and our world. We aim to lead by example and show others that sustainability is a goal we must all attain.

In 1998, UTS was one of the earliest worldwide university signatories to the Talloires Declaration (opens an external site) on environmental sustainability. Today, ten years later, we can proudly say that we have one of the most comprehensive university environmental sustainability programs in Australia.

As a large organisation and centre for research and education, UTS has an important leadership role to play in fostering environmental sustainability on campus and throughout the community. In these pages you'll learn about current and future campus-wide projects that will bring about real efficiencies and savings in the way we consume water and electricity and reduce our greenhouse gas emissions and waste.

You can also find out about the research we are doing that will add new knowledge to our projects and cutting-edge courses relating to the environment and sustainability in business and technology.

Finally, but perhaps most importantly, you can find out how you can grow your own awareness of and commitment to environmental sustainability by becoming involved in exciting projects taking place at UTS.
